Happy Halloweeeeeeeeen!! {{from the time machine}}

Here's one from the time machine people.. This was looooovvvvee, baby!
Early on, when BobVilla would let me dress him up, we had a blast.
Sorry, its a picture of a picture, you know, before digital.
The Gypsy Pirate(?) man and his fortune telling gypsy side kick..
There was far too much alcohol being consumed to really get in a tizzy about who we REALLY were trying to be.....big party, lots of other rowdy fun lovers our merry making and, well...having ADULT fun, too much. Those were the days, my friends.. Can you tell why I snagged BV when I did? Handsome hunk or what? God I love ya, Bob!! He also let me black out a few teeth, but, not in this photo.
I think this was about 1990 or so. I remember the drink of choice back then was..
lots of ice, lots of vodka and a little splash of Diet coke, for color.(a-hem, alcoholic, much?)
These days, we carve a pumpkin, dress up the kids and take them round a couple a blocks to get the booty..of other sorts..
Hope all have a super Halloween this year.
Be safe, don't eat any candy from China and make sure you pack a little vodka and diet coke in your thermos for the trick or treatin!!
*just kidding folks..

One year ago this week...oyyyyyy.

Hard to believe that these before photos were taken a year ago this week.
I love to look at the progress. I cannot believe how I am almost standing in the same exact spot!
Anyhoo.
Kitchen area prior..
Kitchen area now..

The place we dine..prior

The place we dine (and hang) now..

Toward the back..prior..

And now.

I havent been out to my beach in almost a month. I am completely lonely and desperate for that little cottage. I am sure it misses us just as much as we would love to be there with her! Dont worry though. I left the radio on so she would have something to listen to.
Shes ready for rental..wanna come out? The weathers been grand here on the coast.
let me know~~
:)

I love Bossy..I dont love...being broke!!

Hello..Here I am, talking about debt, without REALLY talking about it.
get the picture??? Anyhoo, my "friend" Bossy over there at (Iambossy.com)
shes got this new gig going about everyone, you know..~~gettin reeeeel~~
I hate it. Real..yuck..Anyhoooooo. Heres what me and the mailman had for dinner Friday night.
We were gettin real with a can of chili- Nallys 10 for $10 (oh, so chic and Cheep!!)
then a box of that jiffy corn bread, .88 a box.
and we splurged, 2 budweisers, left over from the cooler this summer.
Added some onion, yes bossy..also left over from possibly the Nixon administration, a bit of cheese-sans the hair growing on it..(((MOLD)))
It was worth it, I got 10 minutes of uninterruped talk with my hubby, because the cardboard tonys pizzas (2fer$5) were in the oven for the children, who were playing nicely in the other room...Thank you kids..
Who knew poverty could be sooo romantic..
go see boss, join in the fun!!
We are all in this together--people.
oh, except for Barney Frank and the likes..

Bedecked for Halloween, a walk around the house, **THE CROWS** Old glory {and} FREE Hydrangeas

We have had SOOOOOme weekend..
The flu, to be exact
AND
I
Wont
go into
DETAIL..
it was
very ugly..sick sick sick..4 out of 5 of us.
THANK GOODNESS we are better
nuff said..
onward, shall we??

Now that we are healed we bedecked and bedazzled the ol Coastal Nest in all her
Halloween Glory..actually, its a half assed kind of job this year. I know, I know
SLACKER MOM..I just dont have the Halloween spirit this year.
Here we go.

Cute drawing from a certain someone...

While I was outside in the gorgeous Fall afternoon that was Sunday..I decided to show off my vintage paper skeletons hanging on my front windows..cute eh??
All old, all garage sale all $1 each. LOVE THEM..
Then theres the yard, in all her colorful glory. Im glad BobVillas got the day off of being mailman on Tuesday, so he can don the cape of super yardman...The leaves, people..they are a fallin.Gorgeous though..The walk with scary ghost..Front yard and these CROWS that have been menacing me for a few days now. They come and eat in my yard like its the finest restaurant in town. It kind of makes me feel a little uneasy, these fellas..Sometimes theres 100, swear. CAW CAW..even sometimes a little meow, these crows, why do they love me so?? honestly a bird that meows??Wonderful photo of our Flag flying in the crisp Fall breeze. A reminder of what this country is all about..NOTHING makes me prouder than to see this fly in my yard.
Now this, here is something that this very strange man "Cisco Morris" the gardener on our local (Seattle) tv station says we can do..BV and I decided.."what the hell" A free hydrangea..we will try it. Here you see the handsome and handy BV standing by a very huge and overgrown hydrangea bush in our yard. Hi Bob!
So, Cisco says..cut a stem of the hydrangea off at the woody part.trim all the little new buds off.. then poke the woody stem down into the ground passed where you cut the little buds off.

Then there you go..so he says..Walk away, leave the hydrangeas stems till the spring..

I know, they seem a little scared and lonely..
Ill come and visit little starter bushes, I promise!

try it! Cisco will love ya for it.

and who wouldnt like a free hydrangea??

A Tag...7 facts, interesting or not- about me..

Seven random things about Coastal Nest..Thanks Mrs Fortner..

1. I have known BV since we were little kids.

2. We struggled through massive fertility treatments that DIDNOT work. After refinancing the house to pay the fertility doctor off, we started on remodeling the kitchen. Let alone have sex in the middle of our very first, and overwhelming remodel, together--we got pregnant!! Crazay, No? 3 healthy children later.....life is great.

3. I am party gypsy. Things happen, its weird and strange and hard to explain. Its in my blood, my mothers side.

4. I am STILL dealing with FARMERS INSURANCE to get my roof repaired from the huge storm LAST DECEMBER. Do yourself a favor if you have said insurance, go get someone else. They are horrible horrible people.

5. I sleep in split shifts. Have for a long time. from about 10pm to 4am. Then randomly after that until about 6:30.

6. I have a treadmill that I haven't used in over a year..and need to get back on..badly.

7. I am a total blogaholic, and my name is Lisa

I am tagging fellow bloggers

Like a fish to water {or} just like riding a bike....{OR} This is how we rooolll!

The smell hasn't changed a bit, neither has the decor..Here we are!
The Harborena!!!
git yer skates..its time to ROLL!someone.. thinks shes a little hot shot skater girl. I no more fastened those little teeny skates to her little teeny feets and guess what..
bye bye mama!!!
she was off...CRAAzAy..
like a little fish to water.
sorry for the bluuuuur. The adult in the situation also had skates on..yikes.

This cute little peanut in the pink with her hands on her hips doing the Hokey Pokey

"ever so sassily" belongs to her..yes..she would be soooo proud of you, little birthday girl.

Erin is 8 today. Happy Birthday Little Love!

I use to spend just about every SINGLE SOLITARY SATURDAY here.

I bet I tracked quite a few miles down in this place, it hasn't changed one bit. The cinder block walls are still cold and damp, it still smells just exactly the way it did waaaay back then. Kinda stinky, kinda hot doggy. The bathrooms are still the same, the snack bar still has the vintage candy signs and I very well think the same hot dog rotisserie. Added to the necessity of skating, however is the ever present and ever disgusting energy drink vending machine. God, I hate that stuff. Thank goodness my kids aren't into it. Some are, skeeery. I loved that snack bar, almost as much as skating. If you were good, you could time your visit just right and be the cool kid to sit on top of an old radiator with a seat built on top of it, very near the window, so to watch all the cute boys. Lord.

The vintage lit skating board still rings the same..Trio, all skate, couples, reverse.

The memories. Guess what, we are going again--next weekend. The kids had a blast!

And so did mama!

PS....

The decorations haven't changed-

NOT SINCE 1975!!!

c'mon! Get your skates on!

Meet me at the Harborena next weekend!

Its just like riding a bike, really!

Via the Derfwad Manor..

This was one of the best Slow Cook Thursdays Ive

ever read about.

I love this poem from her.. and her darling Hugo? that photo of him sleeping is just....soo.

~~~~
I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible,
to loosen my heart until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance;
to live so that which came to me as seed goes to the next as blossom
and that which came to me as blossom, goes on as fruit.
The almighty Razor Clam....
Here we are--last year. The razor clam tides were in the midst of gorgeous weather, so we got some great photos along with some awesome clams.
Its a fun sport, believe it or not. Who would ever think that if you dig down into the cold wet sand that there would be something to actually eat under there.
Quite a tasty bi-valve little critter.
Here's one! Freshly dug..by that ultimate male..
BobVilla.
guess what? Ill be taking my camera along with us, so you can get the FULL effect..
because, I know you all are sooooo curious about how you dig a razor clam, or how you cook a razor clam..or most importantly..how to CLEAN a razor clam-yuck.
So, stay tuned reader..This will all be coming down by the weekend.
Hope everyone is well and happy. Sarah, I hope everything is going alright.
Martha, I still have not received the photos
Mrs. J, Timi, and Martha.. Can you really believe how long its taking me?
looser, eh???
don't forget to watch the last debate tonight.
I am praying for Mr McCain to take Mr Obama to task on his questionable background, his reverend, his FRIENDS and his association with the signing up of hundreds of thousands of illegal voter registrations from ACORN--I'm sure we will hear flippant remarks and no real answers. (nothing quite like a potential president funneling money to an organization that clearly is tied up in thousands of fraudulent voter registrations)
what say you?
how do you feel about ACORN???
oh, and razor clams.
A sign of the times..alley style
Years ago, when this town was a "going concern" There were stores everywhere- with merchants to sell you anything your heart desired on every corner. Even the alley walls were filled with great detail. Some still bear the long lost past of the original store name. This rental we are in was named the Golden Rule. Mens furnishings.
Here is today's look. Hmmmm. Not the most ascetically pleasing.Not at all.
Hey, hi girlfriends! Heres Mom and Mary and the little manager in training!
Shall we go on in and see whats new?
Hello, little manager girl. Could you show me around this decadant store youve got here?
"Oh, mama, you know whats in here!!"
These big knots weight a ton. Doorstops-just in..$42. Darling topiary trees, also. Cannot remember the price, sorry
Excellent- beachy style coffee table. Horses.
This fun red leather chair is like an old bus seat, kind of a chair and a half. Sooo cute.
Wonderful, fragrant and absolutely to die for pinecones. ( Im sure these will sell well through the holiday.) As if Im already talking holiday. Its coming up, sisters!! Love love totally love that darling anne selke, of pinecone hill fame. Her rugs are the...total best. So easy to care for and the colors are nummy..
New rainforest print, no glass on canvas. Moss balls. (love)
Is this not drama to the 9th degree. Just take a look. My mom really knows how to put things together. This shop is such a treat.
Shes good...reeeeeeeeeal good. Love ya mom!
The shop will be ready for the Autumn season this weekend..
Stop by! We would love to see you.
