Asian Pear Harvest

This, dear readers, is a few photos from a year ago..Unfortunately the asian pears on our trees were tasteless, bland, mealy and just downright, well un interesting. So guess what happened..
We decided to take them to the Farmers Market here in our little town..a giant truckload of asian pears. and I mean the Villamobile was FULL..Arent they just gorgeous?
Isnt he just gorgeous? Paula, dont answer that..you little..
They photographed so well, but even a good photo only goes skin deep..
sorry you were so bland, I could have canned you and passed you out to all my coastal nest readers for a very nice home made suprise. But then, you wouldnt be reading this now..
On account on I would be blamed for being a bad cook..which I am not..
bye bye tasteless pear.. your beauty is only skin deep.
Unlike my tasteful readers..

My house..before and after...the series

As you might wonder..What the hell?
These are a few photos of a new series I am going to start for my blog.
Before and After..
If you can believe, this..its my and BobVillas room while we were looking at this place to purchase it. I know you love it. you love that great green tape trim around the wallpaper, and the great light fixture..
and totally the twin beds..one thing we are not is twin bed sleepers..Cute beds though..
This was the family home of the people who lived here for many many years.
Now it is a new family home to the people who live here...for many many years to come.
WE love this place..
yes, she still sleeps in here, god love her. Mostly shes in the middle of the bed with us..The crib bed is just for show, along with her big girl bedroom..made perfect as it could be for her by her mom and dad..but nooooooo. she likes us too much.
more to follow people..and it aint pretty..

Anne Selke of Pine Cone Hill fame is starting to show up!
Yes indeed..

or yet another fun color combo..
shes got great wooden trays in this white wash or a terrific dark black wash..
the BEST EVER, fleece cozy pjs.. oh yes..
There are great bedding combos, too numerous to even photo. I mostly have ordered pillows and throws to start, but if you see something you want, I can totally get it for you..
I am very excited about the new style direction part of the shop is going to transition into.

My FAVE mag..they know me soooo well

Cottage living and I, well, let this be said..I am in absolute love with this mag.

They know me soooo well. We were all packed up for the coastal nest this weekend.Good old hubby (BV) goes and gets the mail out of the basket we have set up in the front closet to catch all of the treasure the mail provides. --I love all that junk mail my man brings me.

( I hope you appreciate it too, you know it keeps a roof over our heads!!:)--

Anyhoo..he brings the mail to me with this glorious issue on the bottom of said stack.

YAY!!!!

Once we got situated in the car for our little 25 minute drive to the sand, I opened up this beautiful rag and found the most lovely house I have seen in a long time!

I squeeled with delight. If you havent gotten your cottage living yet, its coming..this house is AWESOME! If you have gotten your mag, what did you think of this home???

I LOVED it..but I love black and white anything..

thoughts please..
ps..thanks for yesterdays advice, girls..your goooooood, reeeeeeal good!

When a girl discovers she might need to hold her breath..{and bite her lip}

A certain girl I know, shes- well, kinda WORRIED..
shes worried that her little boy isnt getting paired with the right kindergarten teacher. She didnt sleep very well last night, in fact she told me she was up at 3:30 just because she had a little knot in the pit of her stomach.See,her precious boy means the world to her, just as her other children do. She loves to take care of business for all concerned when it comes to "creating the perfect life" for her children. Not that the perfect life means izod shirts with the collar tipped up, perfect 501 button fly jeans and penny loafers (with the pennies) no, not that kind. AT ALL
I want (I mean she) She wants her child to have the perfect Kindergarten experience that she had, with the whole giant papermache giraffe and all. (She loves you Ms Mezera!)
She wants her child to have a pretty sweet loving Miss Honey teacher. You know, from Matilda..Not that she wants Miss Honey to take her son away and make him her own..But still Miss Honey would be grand..Shes worried he might have the Trunchbull.(ssending ssshivers down her ssspine) Now she dosent know the Trunchbull, really at all..she just knows what shes "heard"
What do you think of this girls problems? Should I tell her to hold her breath and bite her lip--just see how it goes?
Ill let her know what great advice my dear readers give her.
Thanks!
heaven help this poor girl..Shes beside herself with anticipation.

{ When its time for a little sauce } shall we go canning?

Fall is in the air, people.. School is just around the corner and that, my friends means its time for the BobVillas to do a little canning. Oh, yes you heard me right.
Today, its APPLES!Beautiful sweet, tart, colorful Gravenstein
Washington State apples..YUMM-O!First off you have to wash all the fruit.. slice quarter and take the core out.More bathing beauties..Make sure your quarts are good and clean, no breakage or chipped lids..put those sweet little quarters in a good pan-"fer reducin.."Have your hairy forearmed man stir and wait, ponder the lovliness..More stirrin and more waitin..this makes the most heavenly scent of apple waft through your house. Mmmmmmm. Now for the fun part. Keep cookin the apples, keep slicing the apples, keep on keepin on.. until you get this golden pan of tartness. pure smooth heaven. Add sugar to taste. Fill the quarts, pop on the warm lids and rings and give em a bath..HOT bath! And a facial for yourself if you want..
Oh, my..whats this..left over pie from the night before..like to try it?How about Home made applepie, ala mode (with tillamook,no less) with a little hot fresh tart delicious apple sauce on top.. PERFECT! just perfect..

uhhhhh...except for this mess.. But its soooo worth it, on a drizzley NorthWest morning to serve these little sweeties a hot pancake with the golden love of home made applesauce on top..

Made with love, just for you!!
xoxo-Mommy (and maybe your dad helped a little, too)

Time Flies...

While I was looking for a certain photo of my old home for
the nesters fun mistreatment club yesterday I ran across some photos that made me just stop...

Can I tell you I remember this day like it was
YESTERDAY!!!
we had just gotten home from a little family jaunt with my parents down to Cannon Beach for the weekend, I took these myself as we were "trying" to read a book together..
Look at those sweet baby FACES!!!

Those cheeks on little miss there..

and those EYES for crying out loud!!

and this little boy, well, hes very nearly a man now. Little did I know that I was going to be able to have children because, truth be known, (thats just a total other story) This treasure right here I thought would be my one and only..

Im sooo blessed, I just wish wish wish that they would slow down growing a little bit! School will be starting very soon. I will have a 6th grader, a kindergartener and a preschooler..

Does anyone have 3 bricks I could put on their heads? Because, seriously.. These photos make me want to stop time.

oh, and by the way.. where are the mommys wrinkles??

Seriously-

Window Mistreatments coastal nest style...FOR THE NESTER..

I am joining the Window Mistreatment Club...
As you can see here, this is your basic window mistreatment, Roman shade style.
It just so happened that I had these very very awesome tablecloths at Grand Heron that everyone that works there "covets" TOTALLY. Its so funny how we all have such very different styles, we adore the same things but apply them in such different ways..
Anyhoo, back on track. Coveted tablecloth, 4 small windows in the breakfast nook, gluegun, pillowcases and the Oprah AHA moment.... all culminated into some very cute curtains. Mind you this was at my OLD home..to this very day I still adore.
Yes, the green was bright, yes the black ivy wallpaper I adored was garish. but when you were in this room, girls... it was
SPECTACULAR!
I cut the tablecloth into 4 equal parts
I then glue gunned the sheets for a nice outside appearance, then double stick taped them to the window casing.Totally TOTALLY windged it just like most of you in the mistreatment land.
Lordy,
how we are all so alike.. I love all your fun ideas!!!
I need to get some more glue sticks!!
I am so glad that Mrs J got me turned on to
Thanks nestergirl!

I hope to be around more, and hope to see all you around more, as I am a decorating
FIEND!!
if you want a little more of my style go ahead and click over there on the right.
to coastal nest decorates, or beach cottage progress, OR even my dear shop that I am speaking of Grand Heron Style...
see you around
:)

mom: What was your favorite part of camp, honey?
Ry: Possibly the swimming, and all the candy.
mom: Whats that on your arm there?
Ry: This is a deep water band, saying to the lifeguards I could go in the deep water part of the lake. I even swam across the whole lake without a life jacket.
mom: I knew you were headed for greatness! Are you going to be in the Olympics or something? Possibly another Phelps?
Ry: whaaaa?
mom: I guess you were at camp and didnt see the human dolphin swim.
Ry:whaaa? mom are we done?

mom: Just a minute now..Did you shower while you were gone?

Ry: Mom it was a bunch of boys, and we were in the water ALL.THE.TIME.That totally counts.totally.
