la la lemony....

Did I ever tell you how much I love a lemon?
Guess what, I love a lemon.. (and a good cocktail...)
mmmm. I think I love the color just as much as the scent.. and then, theres the taste..

I really couldn't possibly choose a favorite dessert with lemon, but a lemon bar comes pretty close to perfection, in my book.
YOU?

I was at Costco with my hubby last week, they had a large bag of lemons for $5
FIVE BUCKS..out here I pay $1 EACH..
needless to say, I bought said bag and am thinking of a great dessert..(and cocktail) for this week. I could go with the old standby, Ina's lemon bars..but was wondering if you had a favorite up your sleeve..
Help a sister out and divulge your best lemon recipe to Coastal Nest..
Cant wait..or maybe you could tell me your "passion fruit"
Happy Monday!
2 weeks till schools out
WHOOOOOOT!!

In the summer I make lemon ginger martinis. I make a ginger simple syrup by boiling about 12 coin-sized pieces of fresh ginger in 1 cup water, then stirring in 2 cups of sugar. Then I mix 2 shots of vodka, 1 shot of ginger syrup, and at least a 1/2 shot of fresh lemon juice in a martini shaker with a handful of ice cubes. Subbing the vodka with water makes a very nice ginger lemonade.

Thanks for the kind words about my big hair and the bag.

I'm with you on all things lemon! Nothing like lemon meringue pie, lemon bars, etc. I MUST share a super moist lemon bundt cake recipe with you that I made last year for our 4th of July party! I'll look it up and send it over this week... I wish my husband liked the color yellow 'cause I think it's sooo cheerful and you know how to do it just right! I tell him that a yellow house is the perfect color for the darker days here in the PNW.

Whatever you make, I definitely think some lemon drop martinis are in order. While you're at it, bring one on over here. I'll drink while you cuddle.

Your header photo is so unusual and so attractive!! Love visiting your blog. As for lemon favorites...my sister-in-law's lemon merinque pie with vanilla ice cream in the middle of it, is absolutely wonderful!! I don't know how she makes it, but I do know I can not resist it.

This absolutely confirms now why I love your blog so Lise - I love lemon anything! We have something called Lemon Delicious Pudding, which is a traditional spongey thing with the yummiest lemon sauce. Served with heaps of clotted cream it's heavenly. A very English thing, but we're still part of the good old Commonwealth God forbid!

Lemon Drops (our new official drink of summer)
Makes 2 big drinks
1 C fresh squeezed lemon juice
3/4 C Vodka
1/2 simple syrup (maybe more if you like it a little on the sweet side)
Put into a shaker with ice, shake and pour over crushed ice.
If you want to get all fancy schmancy sugar the rim. Enjoy :0)

What are Ina's lemon bars? That's what I'd like to know...

Gah... now I'm craving simple carbohydrates... what else is new.

Hey Lisa,
simple syrup: equal parts water and white sugar. bring to a boil and cool.
We tried to sweeten the drinks once with powder sugar and it had a funny taste, simple syrup is definitely the way to go.
Enjoy!!
