I'm constantly on the hunt for it.
It is elusive as the green horned polka dotted ginger pig..
It...the perfect crackle!
Really, the only thing that can perfect the aged paint is
time, as far as I can tell.
I appreciate it on an old house, a piece of furniture, a wonderful mantle..
What I wish, is to know how to get this effect. I am somewhat of a crackle snob..
Its gotta be a thick, non patterned imperfect crackle. No symmetry whatsoever..
do you have the ticket?
Really?
Please lend me your recipe, Ill be forever grateful!

I haven't tried it, but I think the secret it to use a layer of glue between paint layers. Like this.
Well, leave it to Michelle to find a formula for me! I guess I could have done that....
Thanks girlfriend!!!
How the heck are ya?

Yeah...I have the ticket for you. Let the painted piece hang out in the salty ocean...Oh, lets say for a month or two. There. Authentic crackle, beach house style.
no? oh.
Dang! I thought you were going to tell us how to get the perfect crackle. I love the photo in your header.

When you perfect the recipe will you share with me? I have a mantel I want to crackle up. Just haven't gotten the guts to attempt it.
I agree--- the perfect imperfect crackle is hard to "create." I like Linda's idea!!!
Crackle just right is so nice, and when it's not quite right...it's, well... seems like it's trying to hard to be?
