out of the box...

Hello..Heres some more kitchen photos.. We came this close, and I mean VERY..to installing dark dark hardwood out at the beach house. Theres is something about the dark coffee bean floor that I adore. I love the way it makes the walls look like they reach to the sky, thus enhancing a very low cieling. I also love the shine AND that not alot of people would step out of the box to install such a dark color in their homes. NOT MEEE!!!
But, common sense prevailed and we decided, for resale factor, that dark wouldnt be a good selling point out at the beach. Point taken, Mr Villa...I hate it when your right.

Now here is a chandelier!! What in the world, I love love love it!! again, with the unexpected. How about the curtains? With that brown upholstery on the chairs, again. ADORE...
In the first photo, you can see the built ins at the far end of the room. Here is a close up, can you stand it? The putty color on the cabinet really makes the white pottery pop. POP!!! love the moo cow creamer and butter dish.

I am very close to 100 posts, check me out sooooon. I think this is 96. @ 100 I will be hosting some sort of goofy, wonderful, inspiring, comical, decorative give away, of some sort or another. Not sure of what it will be, yet..You all are so great, you deserve a prize..
all photos from design inc.

Have a great Sunday :)

Wow! I love the kitchen. The built in is wonderful. I've always loved built in shelves and hutches like they used to have in old houses. They have so much charm.

I absolutely love those dark floors but I learned long ago (and Mr. Villa Husband probably knew) they show EVERY dust particle, thread, tiny scrap of paper. So unless you really love running over the floor with a dust mop every hour, they're a no-no.

Same for dark carpet. It shows absolutely every thread and fuzz ball.

Love your blog. I found you through the Cottage Magpie.

Yum. Yum. Love that kitchen. I'm doing my dining room in green and brown, so I loved that inspiration pic too. Love the dark wood floors. I would love to go that route myself.

I love the look of dark floors, too, but I think BV had the right idea for the beach. I can't wait to see how the cottage is coming along!
