Are you freakin?

The Coastal Nest has a tendancy to over react to ALL things concerning the health and well being of her precious peeps.
Can you keep it in perspective for me?
Or are you freakin, too?
People, please..lets hear it..
Tell me how you really feel..
I can take it..I think.

Not yet but I did have contact with someone last week who thought they had mono or pneumonia. It's hard working with sick people! All I can do is boost my immune system and hope that people will stay home if they are sick! I never had any plans to go to Mexico anyway, so I'm not bummed about that! If you look at the statistics of how many people die every year of the regular flu, this one is just starting to get serious!
Take your vitamins and eat right. A strong person should be able to survive this, at least I hope so!

Hugs!!

I'm not freaking, a little concerned maybe. I am worried for my daughter. She is going a cruise this weekend, to guess where? Yeah, Mexico. I was hoping they would postpone their plans but nooo, they're going anyway. Planned too long for it. I just pray she/they will be ok.

I'm trying not to... The "hot" Dr. from that Doctors show was on the radio this morning and was reassuring (he helped balance out Biden this morning!) As a teacher it does worry me to be around kids all day with their dirty little selves!

PS - I don't suppose the cottage is open for Fri/Sat of Mother's Day weekend is it???

Naw. Even when my Mom (who lives with us)came down with flu symptoms this week (and just got back from Mexico last week).

No need to freak. The strain has probably changed because the people getting it in this country have quite mild symptoms.

But...Just wash your hands and stay 2-3 feet away from coughers.

I'm not freakin' yet. But then, my kids aren't vaccinated for anything so I kind of had to get over freakin'a while ago. I get so frustrated with the media sometimes - so now I just try to stay away from it. Helps keep the freak outs down. ;-) Man, I'm freakin' freak - I just used "freakin'" way too freakin' much.

I have to say that I kind of over react sometimes but I am not a total freak (like I haven't bought the masks, yet..)We make sure to wash our hands - as soon as we come in from outside, or after leaving Walmart, grocery store, etc (hand sanitizer works great for this), sneeze into your elbow, all the things we probably have been doing all winter. Eat well, get plenty of rest, stay of way from hackers & wheezers if possible.

Of course this is my day to day routine (yeah, I embarrass my family all the time). Better to freak out than get sick, right?

Wash Wash Wash! Make the kids in to OCD hand washers! I think if your being careful, not coughing on each other, washing, and staying clear of those who are coughing on each other you should be ok. It's harder with kids in school. Those little ankel bitters are germ spreaders without even knowing it.
Life is way to short to be stressing over something you don't have a whole lot of control over.

The only thing that I'm freaking about is that I'm going to be forced to work a bunch of mandatory overtime, but other than that I'm not too worried. I'm going to keep myself especially well hydrated and rested, wash my hands a little more often, and keep a little more distance from people who are coughing. I'm still getting over my cough from having bronchitis a few weeks ago, and I'm more worried that my patients are going to think I'm giving them swine flu.

I saw that it was rented right after I left the message. I looked at a few other places - yours is BY FAR the cutest!!!! Hopefully we'll make it down for a couple of days this summer when we can go on weekdays!

I live in Dallas. We have had one school in our dist close for the week because of confirmed cases of swine flu. We have 2 suspected cases and the school less than a mile from me. I think it's just a matter of time before it hits my daughters school. Now all that being said I am not panicking but I have sent hand sanitizer to the school and have gone over washing hands with my kids. I think common sense will prevail and we will all be fine!

I think it is a media-fueled drama. People die from the regular flu and pneumonia every year in greater numbers than this...every year it is something new. Bird flu, West Nile virus, Meningitis....although, it would be nice if people would wash their damn hands. I am amazed at work how many women don't wash their hands after using the bathroom. Gross.

I am visiting your blog via Cutzi. She stumbled across my blog the other day and now I have stumbled across yours.

I actually live in Mexico. Have been here for a year as of May 3. I have a 1 and 2 year old. I am only worried a bit. The main areas of problem are Mexico City and San Luis Potosi, both of which are miles and miles away. Although it could be right down the street from me. But at this point anyone is just as likely to catch the flu so I would just be preventative as much as possible. You never know what the media has turned this into. Hopefully you stay out of harms way! You have the right to freak out if you want.

I never thought I was one to freak, but I AM. I think I have hand sanitizer in every room, car, purse, etc. The clerk at Target thought I was a freak today with a cart full of the stuff! I really think the unknown is the scary part. I just can't stop watching the news. Keep those peeps safe!

Now for what I am really freaking out about- what is up with that laundry room? Go to Ikea already! I need pretty pictures with the Coastal Nest spin!

Yes - because I live near NYC and it is sloooowly creeping it's way to my state... yikes!

No - because I know that there is a cure and there is medication out there that can help.

Don't know if this made it worse for you or not but just be cautious, wash your hands, eat well and just keep up to date with the correct info on the news.

Take care!

I'm not totally freaking but then the girl in the next office was coughing all day and in the back of my mind I kept wondering if she had the swine flu...so maybe I'm freaking just a little.

No, I am not freaking yet, but I am preparing. If you want to hear credible info, visit the WHO website or the CDC site. The info there includes the facts, straight up. The WHO has been predicting a pandemic for years and I think it is prudent to think about preparing a pantry of sorts in case schools and businesses do close and we are "kept in" for an undetermined time. Pandemics typically occur in three waves, with the first one being the mildest. I am just crossing my fingers that the next waves won't be more severe.

Anyway, on the bright side, it might fizzle out, and as long as there doesn't end up with too many people with the virus, there will hopefully be enough Tamiflu and/or Relenza to go around.

If you are distrustful of the media, check out those sites I mentioned.

Oh yeah, and take your vitamins!! :)

No need to freak! What are the odds of you getting it. I usually frak out every illness. Every day I have someething. But yeah this dies not bother me. My husband does not let me buy Preventon magazine anymore because of the illnesses I suddenly get. So if you got the swine flu, it would make a good post on your blog~ However I would be pissed if I had a planned vacay to Mexico. Did you notice it did not stop Jessica Simpson from vacationing there~:))))
Have a great weekend, and wash your hands!

Oh it's all such a beat-up - political correctness at it's best (or worse!). I work for a Japanese company & late yesterday afternoon I had a courier delivery at home here in Australia of 2 boxes of face-masks complete with a memo from Japan telling me I should wear these when out seeing clients. You've got to be joking! I'm still shaking me head in total disbelief, as my clients are Interventional Cardiologists & Radiologists. I'd be laughed out of town!

Well, I've been freaking out a little bit but not overreacting like our schools. I guess they have to though. My little 15 year old faker (she has a history) walked in to the nurses office today complaining of a sore throat, has a 99 degree temp and we were told we must come get her and take her to a doctor. If she doesn't have a doctor's release, she will not be allowed back at school for 7 days. Great. So if Ms. Faker is indeed proven to be faking, she is paying for this doctor's appt out of her savings. If she's not faking (a looong shot) then I guess I will feel bad about posting this comment!

One of our renters is sick right now and I'm pretty sure it's not the swine flu, but I clorox wiped the crap out of my house yesterday just in case.

Just a bit nervous right now, but I know that would change in a heartbeat if the WHO level goes up one more.
