{ When its time for a little sauce } shall we go canning?

Fall is in the air, people.. School is just around the corner and that, my friends means its time for the BobVillas to do a little canning. Oh, yes you heard me right.
Today, its APPLES!Beautiful sweet, tart, colorful Gravenstein
Washington State apples..YUMM-O!First off you have to wash all the fruit.. slice quarter and take the core out.More bathing beauties..Make sure your quarts are good and clean, no breakage or chipped lids..put those sweet little quarters in a good pan-"fer reducin.."Have your hairy forearmed man stir and wait, ponder the lovliness..More stirrin and more waitin..this makes the most heavenly scent of apple waft through your house. Mmmmmmm. Now for the fun part. Keep cookin the apples, keep slicing the apples, keep on keepin on.. until you get this golden pan of tartness. pure smooth heaven. Add sugar to taste. Fill the quarts, pop on the warm lids and rings and give em a bath..HOT bath! And a facial for yourself if you want..
Oh, my..whats this..left over pie from the night before..like to try it?How about Home made applepie, ala mode (with tillamook,no less) with a little hot fresh tart delicious apple sauce on top.. PERFECT! just perfect..

uhhhhh...except for this mess.. But its soooo worth it, on a drizzley NorthWest morning to serve these little sweeties a hot pancake with the golden love of home made applesauce on top..

Made with love, just for you!!
xoxo-Mommy (and maybe your dad helped a little, too)

Wow, that looks like a lot of work, but well worth it. Yum!

I have never canned before, I would love to learn!

I canned a few jars of applesauce from local Shamrocks; those apples make some delicious sauce. This weekend it's going to be blackberry jam--with the blackberries generously supplied by the bushes in the park down the street.

Oooh the apple are coming in soon here as well. I just put up green beans with onions and herbs and heavenly jam (made with peaches, maraschino cherries and orange juice). So much more canning to be done . . .
