black wainscotting anyone?

This photo makes me swoon with every inch of my little decorator body.

At first I was attracted to the rustic numbered baskets and the lovely stone base on that column. Then the vintage riding boots were spied on the other side (my sweet mom has a pair just like those)

Then there is that gorgeous rustic floor, golfclubs and the like.But what stopped me in my tracks after all the inspection of the photo was nearly complete...was that gorgeous black wainscotting behind everthing.

Candle Gal...

Do you not love the flicker..
There is something about a candle..Especially when they have friends over and all get lit up.It makes me carazzzeeee when women purchase candles and then never burn them

.."oh, I never burn my candles, they are just for show.."

YIKES!! please girls. If you have them, burn them.

my $30estate sale find. Cute little library table. Even in pale yellow! I had to peel the top piece of veneer off, it was wrecked with water damage. What was underneath is ten times better than that stupid veneer. Ill run the sander across her a couple of times and...voila!!
perfection.--near it..my perfection anyway.


Here is the sorry state of the laundry room. Well, its actually getting better, no?
Kind of a robins egg blue..mom thinks its ..Frenchbleu..These long strips of wood are going to go on the ceiling, they have had their edges routered and have been "ripped" down. This kind of installation was cheaper than wainscoting..just a little more time consuming.--and it was very wet wood-Thanks Home Depot! So, we must let it dry out before going ahead and applying it (you know, shrinkage..it'll get ya every time.)

The sorry laundry room...UPDATE...

Here is a photo of where we are...

Actually the drywalling and sanding is mostly done.

Its absolutely scandalous what drywall dust does to the rest of the home. I feel like my place is one giant powdered sugar donut.

It aint pretty..But here, we call it progress.

I went on a housecall for a woman whom I totally love, shes a doll and we always have good conversation and work well together. She has just gotten a new master suite added onto her home, it is gorgeous beyond belief, even without any interiors. But, I was flabbergasted when I stepped into her closet.

The most precious thing in the world..(on the girl side)

I have been doing allot of ALLOT of different things lately, girls.

One of them just happens to be spending an extraordinary fabulous time with this little brown eyed girl, right here.She, now is a reading fiend. Readit-mama. MAMA readit. So, I oblige for about an hour and then send her on her merry way to READ IT to her girls. I made this little tent for over her bed.

Now I am sure you are saying..Lisa..you have that eldest boy complaining about not having a room of his own, why not give her room to him?

NOPE, I'm not doing it. I got too much good advise from some great girlfriends (here) telling me that they wouldn't split up the boys. Cutzi's and especially Milly's comments cemented the deal for me.

WOW!

I cannot believe how easy this job really was.

It turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

The need to spread ones wings...

The Coastal Nest is trying to ignore it..

but she thinks the buzzz is getting louder and louder..

the buzz comes with an mp3 player, size 10 feet and sometimes, a roll of the eyes..

The buzz I am speaking of is 12. He is starting to get pimples and underarm hair...

The buzz wants his OWN room, MOM!!sheesh (buzz does the eyeroll)

He is sharing with his 5 year old brother, who by the way...is INTO ALL MY STUFF!!

insert another eye roll here. and a really longwinded SHEEEEEEEESH, MOM!!!

The problem is, the coastal nest is only a 3 bedroom antique house.

what is a family to do?

we do have a smallish TV room downstairs, well, its more like the Wii room. So if the parents of said buzz were to move downstairs to the smallish TV room that is just off the front door, mind you..Where would the Wii room be? In the poor parents room? I think not, in the living room? I think not.In buzz's room?--NO WAY.

I know, get rid of the frickin wii!!!

SHEESH, MOM!!!

the Coastal Nest is wanting to give the buzz his privacy, because we ALL know what that meant to us at that tender age..but...

I know some of you have crossed this bridge before this mother.
